We recently had the most wonderful weekend staying at Augill Castle and can't thank Wendy and her team enough. From start to finish everything was just perfect. We stayed 2 nights, had a wonderful afternoon tea for 2 on day 1 and superb 3 course meal on the evening of day 2. If you want a corporate experience this isn't the place to you, but if you can adapt to the Augill way as you drive down the from the main road then this is the place for you. We loved the decor, our room was simply magnificent, the grounds of the hotel offer a tranquil and relaxing place to just "be". We can't wait to get book another stay and can't thank Wendy as the ever present and wonderful host enough, along with her fabulous team.

This hotel is a hidden gem! It was not known to me, adjacent to the A66 as it is, though I live only 40 miles away! What a surprise it was to find such a wonderful venue, with attentive and friendly staff. A gift of a Burns Night Dinner brought Augill Castle into my focus and it did not dissapoint in any way! The rooms and their decoration are a delight. The food presentation, quality, and service offered was very good. The whole package created a wonderful experience which I hope to enjoy again in the not too distant future perhaps?

We’ve just returned from an amazing weekend stay at Augill Castle, and we can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Wendy, who made us feel at home. Augill castle is quirky, relaxing and peaceful. It felt “home from home” for us, where we could unwind and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The food was outstanding – simple, delicious, and made with care. Every meal we had was good quality, home-cooked and excellent value for money. Thank you for making our stay so perfect - exactly what we needed!

I had a wonderful stay here through Brit Stops! The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making me feel right at home. I enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner and full English — every dish was excellent. Fantastic service and a truly lovely experience overall!

My husband and I had a wonderful time. We've had afternoon tea in different locations and this one was the best with regard to both fare and location. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were each served a warm mushroom patty, mini prawn cocktail and a salmon sandwich. Add scones (lashings of clotted cream and jam!) and a selection of delicious sweet treats, with plenty of tea and coffee, in a super environment that was comfortable and relaxed. Beautiful location, lovely people, great service. Just perfect

Lovely place, quirky and gorgeous all in one. Owners are lovely, friendly and helpful. Afternoon tea was amazing, lovely food and plenty of it. Breakfast is brilliant. Wonderful room, lots of space, and all tastefully decorated. We will be back.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea (courtesy of our eldest son) a couple of months ago. It's a brilliant setting and we sat by the window overlooking the garden. Lovely food, great coffee (decaf is my preference and it had lots of flavour), great service (checking we were happy and needed any more coffee) and I know that in the winter months, there would be an open fire too. We then went for a walk around the delightful garden. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Augill Castle for delicious food and a friendly service!

Came for afternoon tea, ended up staying for three nights! Note to the reader - just book it. You will not regret it. I am appalled by reading some of the nitpicking reviews, Wendy and team go above and beyond to make your stay special. Nothing is too big or too small. We came in between Christmas and New Year, and thoroughly enjoyed when other guests had gone out for the day and took great pleasure in pretending we had the whole castle to ourselves!!! How magical and lucky are we. And the Christmas decorations?! Whoever did them clearly have the eye for detail!!
